St. Andrew’s Parks wins
2010 SCRPA Agency of Year Award!
The South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association honored St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground as the state Class II Agency of the Year for 2010 at the annual SCRPA Awards Banquet Sept. 14 in Hilton Head. It is the third time since 2001 St. Andrew’s has earned this recognition.

In addition, Rachel Ebaugh of the St. Andrew’s Parks team of directors
earned the SCRPA Southern District Merit Award for outstanding
achievement in parks and recreation service in 2010.

St. Andrew’s Wins SCAP
2008 Athletic Department of the Year

St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground earned the South Carolina Athletic Programs 2008 Athletic Department of the Year award at the annual SCAP conference in Myrtle Beach Dec. 15. SCAP is a division of the South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association. The 2008 recognition marks the fifth time in seven years that St. Andrew’s has earned the honor (St. Andrew’s also won the award in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005).

2008 Field Complex of the Year

For the third time in four years, St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground earned the South Carolina Sports Turf Managers Association’s Field Complex of the Year Award for Volunteer Park. The award was presented at the annual South Carolina STMA chapter conference Dec. 16 in Columbia.

2008 Innovative Programming Award

St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground was recognized as the winner of the South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association’s Innovative Programming Award at the annual SCRPA conference in Greenville on Sept. 9. The summer camp “Child vs. Wild,” where campers learned outdoor skills and finished the week with an overnight camp out, earned the award. St. Andrew’s also won the Innovative Programming award in 2004.

2007: St. Andrew’s becomes only two-time winner of NAYS Excellence in Youth Sports Award
The National Alliance for Youth Sports recognized St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground as the 2007 recipient of its Excellence in Youth Sports Award at the annual Athletic Business conference in Orlando in Dec. 2007. The 2007 award made St. Andrew’s the only two-time winnerof the honor, which recognize programs that are doing superior jobs of conducting diverse activities with a focus on providing safe and positive experiences for all participants — including children, parents and coaches. This award was developed by the National Alliance for Youth Sports and Athletic Business magazine.

Volunteer Park Wins 2006 STMA Complex of the Year in South Carolina!
For the second consecutive year, St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground earned the South Carolina Sports Turf Managers Association’s Field Complex of the Year Award for Volunteer Park. St. Andrew’s also won the award in 2005.

Sports Illustrated Good Sports Award
St. Andrew’s Parks and Playground earned the 2005 Sports Illustrated Good Sports Award for providing an outstanding youth sports experience. Wins SCRPA Professional of the Year Award
Kevin Walsh, the Executive Director of St. Andrew’s Parish Parks and Playground, was named the 2005 South Carolina Recreation and Parks Professional of the Year.

St. Andrew’s Wins 2005 Dixie Boys World Series!

St. Andrew’s won the Dixie Boys World Series in Muscle Shoals, Alabama by defeating Newton County, Ga., 6-0 and 6-5, in two championship-round games.

St. Andrew’s Athletic Department has received recognition from the South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association (SCRPA) as the 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 SCRPA Athletic Department of the Year.

The St. Andrew’s Parish Parks and Playground Commission is well aware of the violence disrupting youth sports programs around the country and it has no intention of allowing that to occur at its facility. That’s what led to it becoming a Time Out! for better sports for kids community partner.
